LB

It's Sunday evening and it's been a long and fun day. Can you guess what LB is stamped on our hands? Lovely Blonds, Little Bites, One Pound, Lovely Beautiful. Nooooo LONG BEACH. Long Beach California Flea Market.

Bonnie, Jane and myself had to wake up super early and drive from San Diego to Long Beach to check out the Flea Market. It's usually the 3rd week of each month but when there are 5 Sundays in a month, they have an additional show. It seemed huge to us and we covered most of it in 5 hours but vendors told us it is soooo much bigger on the regular days. Can't even imagine!!!

We brought our basket's. This is Jane and her basket. You she already has some great finds in there!

Bonnie buying some great old books with blue covers or was it blue bottles or was it blue jewelry.....do you see a theme? Yes, Bonnie loves BLUE.

We made two trips to the car to drop off things. Jane got this great frame for $20! She has some jewels stuffed in her basket too!

What fun to see all the antiques and fun toys. These were a pair of ventriloquist dolls waiting for the right collector or decorator.

I wish I could show you all the great stuff but I was so busy shopping I forgot to take too many pictures. We packed up and took off towards San Diego but stopped in Costa Mesa for late lunch and shopping at Paris to the Moon (haven't been...you must go if you are in the LA area). This is a hat made in a cone shape and looking like a bride....beautiful.

I'll close now but tomorrow I'll add another comment and some picks of an odd purchase I made at the flea market so please check back in and give me some input as to what you would do with them. ?????????

The Disorganized Organizer

It is funny but most of my friends think I am soooo organized. The "truth" if they only knew, would blow them away. I am great at organizing others but can't get it together for myself. Do you have that problem?

I keep taking on projects because I want to help or want to "do" or "try" something new. The other day I was daydreaming (instead of working) and it came to me I am "a disorganized organizer". I think I love the chaos and seeing if I can keep all the balls in the air without dropping any. ha ha

If you are reading this and are shaking your head "yes" then I am happy because I'm not the only one. If you are shaking your head and saying "no, I don't understand" then don't come and look in my closet because it will make me feel bad. :}

Balls in the air this week:

    -Meeting up with friend to pass on circle journal
    -Oh finishing up circle journal pages
    -cleaning house to get ready for company
    -Helping friends price a houseful of their Mother's stuff for estate sale
    -Babysitting my new great-nephew this friday, can't wait to hold him again!
    -Getting papers ready for taxes ugh!
    -Doing some artwork to feel creative
    -Updating this blog!
    -Taking a trip to Long Beach Flea Market Sunday with friends
    -Loading my husband's new PC with all data so it will be ready to go (his old one broke)
    -Buying birthday present for grand-niece's 3rd birthday
    -Cleaning garage (never ending) for my first Art Day Meetup in April

Now I feel better because I have done two things: I have updated my blog, which has hung over my head because it should be done a couple times a week and secondly, I have told you I'm a "Disorganized Organizer" so if you want me to do something you can ask but don't expect it to be done too soon but I'll try :}

I'll post some pics of our travels to the Long Beach Flea Market next week......maybe tee hee Have a great weekend.

Wonderful Weekend

Hi Everyone, it was a busy but fun weekend. A few friends and myself found this fun place to shop 45 minutes outside of San Diego in Temecula (Wine Country). It's called La Maison Rustique or as we like to call it "The Barn Sale".

Lots of Shabby Chic, Vintage finds. The Barn Sale started in June 2007 and run by Linda Carpenter, a wonderful, generous lady. She has surrounded herself with creative, smart and fun women who made us feel so welcome.

If you're anywhere near the area during their monthly sales, you need to stop by and have some fun exploring the 2 story barn with all their goodies.

Kewpie Dolls

I happened on a few Kewpie Dolls in December at a holiday craft faire and wanted to make some items for a show at the La Maison Rustique Barn Sale (more on that Monday).

So I decided to make a Kewpie Doll in a cone for hanging. She is such a cutie don't you agree?

The elastic in her little arms was spent so I glued them to her side. I placed some silver christmas tinsel around her body and glued her in this great cone I found in a little store. It has hard plastic beads on it to give it a great cover.

Added a few pink feathers to her head and a little gold button as the hair decoration. Add ribbon as a hanger and I think she turned out great.

Welcome to the World

I got a call from my sister at 3:15am this morning. My niece was expecting her second child and she was at the hospital with both Grandma's in attendance.

I showered and dressed and hopped into my car. at 4am in the morning I saw only 3 cars on the road all the way to the hospital. Luckily my sister had told me the room number or I would have missed the birth. As I walked down the hallway I could hear the oohs and aaaahs and as I walked into the room the baby was being delivered....I DIDN'T MISS IT!!!!

Little Cole Michael was born at 4:21 am pretty and pink........I guess I better not tell him I said that ha ha. Really he is gorgeous. Mom was doing well as this is her second child she was much more relaxed and knew what was happening so she was happy and excited. Love those epidurals :}

Here's to a healthy, happy little guy..........we love you Baby Cole.

Shopping on Friday, February 22nd

Wow what a fun weekend! Rain cannot stop determined shoppers. Friday my friends Jane and Bonnie and myself took a road trip. First stop, The Barn Sale in Temecula. If you have not been, you MUST....everything vintage, shabby chic and fun. Check out Heather's Blog for great photos (she's the best).

We arrived and stepped thru the rain and a little mud to enter the barn and quickly started looking around to find great bargains. The ladies here put on a great sale and I love the how everything is displayed........if only I had an eye for design....oh well......

The rain couldn't dampen the day or our spirits and I had planned on a little more travel and shopping. I had heard the ArtBar in Santa Ana was moving and having a sale so I wanted to drive up and check it out......soooooo off we went in the rain. Hour and 1/2 later we were shopping somemore. We got some great deals, some for only 25 cents. Jane checked out this wonderful dressform in the window which had a little chandelier on the top and it is a light....she HAD TO HAVE IT! Luckily I had my truck. After it was wrapped in many layers of plastic to fend off the rain......off we went back down to Temecula. Isn't she cute?

I called a friend and told her we were on our way back to the barn and she could meet us there........well 3pm on Friday and the 91 Highway with rain means no speeding more like crawling..........two hours later we arrived back at the Barn. Needless to say, my friend had come, shopped, hung around and driven home.....sorry Bonnie :{
Looking at the pictures on Heather's blog I see Saturday was a beautiful day. Crazy San Diego weather lately one day rain, one day sun, one day rain, one day sun. This week it's suppose to be clear........who knows.

Switching to BlogSpot

I've been looking at different blogging editors and decided to go with BlogSpot. So if you're thinking of getting into blogging, check back and see if I'm improving :}

I belong to alot of great yahoo groups and one of the subjects is the anatomy plastic men. Have you seen them at the $1 store? I never can find them so I buy online from outsidethemargins.com and Michael DeMeng has them too.

They are fun to collage and add elements to. Check out a couple I've done. I started with sheets of music and used modge pod to adhere to the little guy.

Then I added flowers to his chest area. I call him "Music Man".

This one is a "hoot" I think, I can him "Measure of a Man". I actually sold this to a woman who was going to give it to her X-husband as a Christmas gift. (Notice the screw in the pelvis area :}
